In a space delineated by shifting boundaries, the sixteen dancers in Go With Your Heart transform and reinvent gestures, movements, and images – memories of the past or anticipations of the future – through a process of continuous repetition, mimicry, and adjustment. As the piece unfolds there are glimpses of different movement cultures; of grotesque, delirious, troubled, and fantastic bodies, revealing the body as an archive of desire, trauma, joy, and resistance. The piece asks questions about how to be together with others, and how to collectively find ways forward in a shared space of uncertainty.
Presented at Theater Basel, Basel, Switzerland – 16 performances over the course of 3 months; each performance of the piece is different as the dancers navigate a framework inside which they make live decisions.
